Whale Watching

This school holidays we went whale watching at Hervey Bay we were lucky enough to stumble apon a beautiful mother and her baby who allowed us the pleasure of watching us and not stealing her baby away.

The fact that she was comfortable enough to let us stay nearby was amazing as when I went years and years ago well 1994 to be exact the only mother we saw took her baby away so quickly , it was a blink of an eye. So we felt really privileged to be with her. I also found out that whales will often use a midwife to help their baby to the surface after birth and that the calf will average 80kg a day weight gain.

Anyway enough of the biology lesson here is some photos to enjoy.

Moments in life where

WTF is the only "word" to use. The carrying on outside our house over the last few weeks has been nutty , firstly we thought it was possums until we saw the dark shapes flipping in and out.

Two large beady eyes could only be seen in the photos until I ran it through an auto correct programme where we see the culprit.

Sunflower sea

We went to a friends farm on the weekend who grows sunflowers for bird seed. How divine are all these flowers and so tall. I had to stand on the back of a ute to take the bottom one. The flowers were the size of a dinner plate.

Rembering Ava

2 years ago Little Ava left this world to become an angel, her funeral was gut renching and tore us all to pieces.

We remeber her daily with a pink ribbon tied to our rear view mirror in the car. The beautiful pink sunsets are always made by Ava.

Our little plant is happily growing in a beautiful pink pot. I cannot even type these words without sheding a tear.

Please remember her legacy and buy a pink ribbon for your car. Follow the link from here.

Hot Hot Hot

Phew it is hot at the moment. We went to the south island of New Zealand on holiday and had an absolutely amazing time. The kids went well being that they only had each others company and we drove alot.

We were able to catch a helicopter in Franz Josef Glacier to the top and landed on the snow OMG that is amazing being on a helicopter and the snow was so beautiful.

There is so many beautiful waterfalls and gullys on the trip and I have added a few of the heaps that we took with the small camera. The first one is in a gully on the way down to queenstown and the second is out on the milford sound.

On a sad note we left our nikon D50 on the taxi on the way home and unfortunately lost over 300 photos. I try not to think about it to much otherwise I just cry. Cameras can be replaced but not those memories.
